4 main things to do before your facial:
3 main things to do before your wax:
Hair Length: it is recommended to have about 1/4 of inch in length. The size of a grain of rice. That is about 2-3 weeks of growth after a shave, from a wax that is a 3-4 week growth. When waxing, it's about the length of hair not the quantity. So keep in mind the longer the hair the more painful your wax. Do Not Trim Before! If it is to long I will trim for you.
Exfoliate: A day or 2 before your appointment. Dry body brushing, or a gritty body scrub will help rid dead cells around the skin pores and hair follicles, providing an easier exit & releasing some of the trapped ingrown hairs. Shower and lightly exfoliate the entire area that you plan to wax the day BEFORE your appointment, using warm (not hot) water. — this only applies to body waxing, not facial waxing.
Pain Prevention: Take an Ibuprofen or Advil 30-45 minutes before your appointment if your worried about pain. (consult your physician before taking medications),
Reduce Acidity: Smoking, regular caffeine and alcohol consumption creates a lot of acid in the body. Taking Tums 20 minutes before your service can help reduce acidity and skin sensitivity. Try not to drink caffeine or alcohol before a wax, stimulants in the system will cause skin to be sensitive to waxing. Drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin. It’s best to try and consume the caffeine a few hours before or after your wax.
Regrowth: Because hair grows in 3 different cycle, it is sometimes common on your first wax or if its been a while since your last wax to have a few stubble of grow in after a couple of days. It is not the waxed hair already growing, its another hair cycle that was still under the skin during waxing. To insure a smoother wax results, wax twice before for your event or vacation.
In the first 24-48 hours your pores are still open, you may experience some sensitivity like redness or irritation in the area that was waxed. These are normal and there is usually less reaction the longer you wax consistly.
Here are some tips to follow during the first 48 hours after waxing:
AVOID FOR 24 HRS AFTER WAXING
